About the quarry
This is a working quarry owned by a company known as Francis Flower.
Much of the floor of the quarry is flooded, and provides a home to wildlife.
The rocks formed about 200 million years ago in the Jurassic Period.
At the time, most of Cambridgeshire was under a tropical ocean, and there was a coral reef here. The remains of the coral reef are quarried for stone.
